I had an interesting conversation with a Cave 9 regular recently, and it turns out my perception of it as being predominantly hardcore / punk may have been premature. I may have been a bit prejudiced, because the first time I wandered by Cave 9, the sustained yowling that was emanating from the stairwell was enough to raise the hair on your neck. Lot's of lean, muscular rock with a little indie sprinkled in for good measure. Backseat Virgins dole out a heaping portion of bubble-gum punk and The Ackleys can sure break it down when the mood strikes.
