Pick of the Day 1/15/08

It Tuesday, an odd day to book a big name band, but that's this mad-cap world for you. Today's pick has been around for most of my life:

It's hard to tell you what this show is going to sound like, because husband and wife + one group Yo La Tengo have created so many different textures in the course of their long career that there is no telling which ones they might pull out of the bag tonight. I will tell you this: you won't be bored. Neither will you be bored by Mr. Kurt Wagner, the anchor in an ever-shifting lineup of musicians in the Nashville collective Lampchop. He's another one with variety up his sleeve. He could be somber, he could have you toe-tappin'. Guess you'll just have to go find out.

Honorable Mention: The Pendletons / Butane Variations / The White Oaks @ Bottletree

Seriously, I almost couldn't pick between these two. Either one is a winner for sure.
